HOUSING AND BUSINESS

For all your shopping needs in Wayward Pines, the locals will kindly direct you to Main Street, a long road that runs through the middle of town. The commercial district itself spans two blocks outside of Main Street, but the majority of businesses and retail shopping reside on the road itself. Main Street has a quaint, small mid-western charm to it, and most of the buildings appear to have been built in the early 20s at the earliest, a distinct and strangely aesthetic contrast to the residential buildings in the rest of the town. Jobs are plentiful and pay is enough that people don't really need to work more than 20 hours a week at any given job, but no one's going to stop them from doing so.

Characters are more than welcome to start their own businesses as well! All businesses are listed here for ease of updating. To create a business, simply fill out the rows, pick your number on the map (making sure it's not already claimed by another business), and voila.

( ! ) If you'd like your character work for a business run by another player's character, we strongly advise contacting that player first! Not everyone checks the spreadsheet regularly, and this is an easy way of keeping everyone in the loop.

In addition to the businesses listed on the sheet, Wayward Pines also has a townhall, a hospital, a school, and a large farm that supplies the town with all the produce and meat it needs. To the north of town, alongside the mountain range located there, is a national park. Located towards the center of town is a non-denominational chapel, staffed by a priest, a rabbi and an imam. They have yet to walk into a bar together.

HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL

The current housing district for the citizens of Wayward Pines, both new and old, is relatively small to accommodate the small population in the town. There are other houses, of course, but if you find yourself wandering toward the residential areas on the outer limits of town, you'll find yourself strolling through a veritable ghost town of vacant, lifeless houses. At least they look pretty?

The housing district itself consists of houses containing two to four bedroom, as well as one-bedroom mobile homes, all made from the same handful of floor plans. It has a strange suburban charm to it, maybe a teensy bit creepy in that Stepford kind of way, where everything looks relatively cookie cutter. Upon moving into your (new?) home, you'll receive a visit from the head of the Happy Home Association, who comes bearing a plate of cookies and a set of rules for home ownership in Wayward Pines. There's really only a couple of major ones to remember: Keep the lawn mowed in the spring, summer and fall, and please, if you're going to have some sort of dramatic police stand-off or whatever you silly kids do these days, do it at work instead of at home.

Homes come stocked with almost everything your character will need to survive for a month or two in the town. Basic necessities, linens, toiletries and things like a snow blower and lawn mower in the garage. Some houses even come with cars! There's no food, though, and the houses may not be decorated to your tastes. C'est la vie.

To choose a residence, take a look at the available floor plans linked below, then use the housing form to let us know where your character is residing and which plan you're choosing, and we'll add it to the housing list. There's also a colorful numbered housing map for your reference.
