WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S STRENGTHS?:

Look up 'ray of sunshine' in the dictionary, and Prompto's mug will probably be right there in the definition. Chipper and energetic, he is the youngest member of the prince's retinue and is easily the most chatty one of the group. That, in addition to his penchant for silliness, (and probably spending more time than is strictly healthy on the internet) means he's got no reservations about throwing memes and pop-culture references out in daily conversation, and tries to make light of the heaviest of situations. That's not to say that he's incapable of taking things seriously; rather, Prompto proves to be quite a pragmatic individual on occasion - he's often the first to point out when the group might be close to finding themselves in trouble, and doesn't hold back his incredulity when they run headfirst into danger. Despite this, his loyalty to his friends far eclipses his fears and any feelings of uncertainty that may plague him, and Prompto will find the bravery to forge on even when he's nervous or afraid.

Having had a lonely childhood, with oft-absent parents and few friends, one could easily surmise that his current group of companions would mean the most to him out of anyone else in the world - yet Prompto remains a thoughtful, compassionate soul who would barely hesitate to extend kindness to anyone in trouble, even if they happen to be little more than an injured stray pup. Of course, he cares the most deeply about his friends and their wellbeing, being the first to automatically offer help when someone is down and out, a tendency likely stemming from his familiarity with the concept of hitting rock bottom, and unwillingness to allow anyone else to experience the same hardship. This includes finding the courage to stand up to friends if he perceives that they are acting out of turn, despite knowing full well that he is physically weaker than they are and probably couldn't take them on in a fight.

Generally, he's a sweet kid who's easygoing enough to not get too offended even when he's being teased relentlessly from all directions, and is trusting enough to try and see the best in people he meets - this applies to even those who've attempted to murder him and his friends in the past. Most of them, anyway.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S WEAKNESSES?:

Prompto's tendency to be readily trusting means it is almost too easy to deceive or mislead him. He's the kind of kid who exclaims "really!?" to blatant streams of bullshit and sincerely mean it, all too ready to believe what almost anyone tells him. However, he is simply naïve and not necessarily stupid - given time, or if he is bitten once too many, Prompto will wisen up eventually -- the downside is that eventually might be too late for him to realise his mistake.

Naïveté aside, the most striking of Prompto's weaknesses is certainly his terrible lack of self-worth. As the only member of his group of friends that was not raised with any connections to the royal family, Prompto's commoner background has left a chip on his shoulder that festered into a disastrous case of imposter syndrome - his greatest fear is his friends realising that he is of no use to them, as well as the dismissal from their lives that is likely to come after it.

As a sheltered inner-city boy, he lacks any practical experience in battle and has never been in a real fight before leaving Insomnia. He seems to suffer from a phobia of a myriad of things, from heights to small spaces and, interestingly, also has an aversion to creepy-crawlies like bugs and snakes -- expect a nonstop stream of complaints whenever these happen to be in the vicinity, though it's thankfully limited to verbal protests.

Prompto is also extremely weak to cute things, with chocobos dealing a critical hit to his kokoro. If you need to kidnap him, put a chocobo in the trap. It's a 10000% guaranteed chance of success.

WHAT EVENTS OR CIRCUMSTANCES IN YOUR CHARACTER'S PAST HAVE IMPACTED THEM THE MOST?:

Everything in Prompto's life has left a lasting impact on him, but the absence of his parents from his life is one in particular that left him growing up lonely and a little awkward. While he was kind to animals, Prompto was generally a reserved kid who kept to himself. He learned to be independent, though not necessarily in the right ways - developing a habit of having fast food, for example, was one of these.

Finding Lunafreya's dog, Pryna, was another key turning point in Prompto's life. It is through this that he is encouraged to make friends with Noctis, although Prompto had to first change his own self-image, mistakenly assuming that an overweight kid was not worthy of the prince's friendship. It was through sheer determination that he accomplished this, gradually opening up and becoming a more confident and outgoing individual along the way.

Being part of Noctis' trip to Altissia was also a major highlight; despite not being bound to Insomnia's crown prince by duty, Prompto accompanies his best friend on his journey, going so far as to have a crash course in self-defence in preparation. It pays off with him earning his very own Crownsguard uniform and taking his place in the royal retinue.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOUR CHARACTER?:

With his friends being such a central point in his life, contributing to their happiness and wellbeing in whatever little ways he can is Prompto's top priority. A clear example of this is his behaviour after shit hits the fan in Altissia; it is in their darkest of times that Prompto really shines - he puts others before himself, tries to play peacekeeper, and ensures, as much as possible, that nobody is left to bear their burden alone. Notably, he stays with Ignis, newly blinded and still fumbling, and guides him so he doesn't fall, continuing to do so when the four are forced to visit a dungeon with rough, unforgiving terrain while Ignis is still sans eyesight. He later stands up for Ignis as well, when Gladio posits that the former's injury is enough to put him permanently out of commission.

WHAT IMPRESSION DO OTHERS TEND TO HAVE OF YOUR CHARACTER?:

Being the one most guilty of making terrible jokes and trying to look on the bright side means others generally take Prompto at face value with the carefree front that he presents, or perhaps even go so far as to believe that he's incapable of taking things seriously. He's seen as the life of the party, the one who stays positive through the worst of times and keeps everyone's spirits up.

IN WHAT WAYS DOES THAT IMPRESSION DIFFER FROM WHO YOUR CHARACTER REALLY IS?:

Humour and ridiculous behaviour are weaved into the veil Prompto draws around himself to divert attention away from his debilitating insecurities. Despite his apparent outgoing nature, Prompto is fairly reserved about his true feelings, especially those regarding others' views of him - it takes a lot of courage for him to speak with Noctis about his self-doubt, as it's shown that Prompto also instantly backs off if he perceives that Noctis is showing even the slightest sign that he may not be receptive, apologising for being "emotional". He's also perfectly capable of understanding the gravity of situations and picking cues up as well as anybody, jumping to the defence of Ignis and Noctis against Gladio when they were at their lowest points without hesitation.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER HANDLE CRISIS OR ADVERSITY?:

He's not afraid to be afraid, for the most part. Prompto is almost always the first to point out anything that troubles or scares him, and the kid has absolutely no reservations about complaining when the rest of the gang does something stupid like attempt to take down a living mountain with eyes. Despite his fears, he will forge on regardless, with unwavering faith in his friends or teammates to the end.

WHICH 5 THINGS WILL YOUR CHARACTER REMEMBER UPON ARRIVAL, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?:

1. He takes his camera everywhere with him because he's taking photos for someone, but he doesn't know who this person is, or the reason why he's documenting it
2. The barcode tattoo on his wrist must be kept hidden
3. He recently left the city as part of a group of four, bound for his best friend's wedding in another city, but he only has a very vague recollection of faces to go by, without names
4. He's used to being alone in a house that's empty save for himself, but the solitude is not something he enjoys
5. He has a major inferiority complex, but feels much better about it after being validated by someone he doesn't recall. That's not to say that it does not still eat at him - it still does, but less

These memories are all deeply ingrained in Prompto, being part of key points in his life, and he would honestly be a different person without them.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?:

He's really rather ambitious when it comes to the ladies, and can reach cringe levels of cheesy if given the chance, yet Prompto is virtually hopeless at any actual conscious flirting, requiring backup from his bros to steady his nerves.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PHYSICAL WEAKNESSES:

• Skills:

Due to his lineage as a genetically engineered designer baby who was meant to become a Magitek Trooper, Prompto has great aim with a gun (which he attributes to playing a lot of FPS games in the arcade) and generally has high proficiency with most firearms. His keen eyesight translates to a great aim with small projectiles (which means he can wipe the floor with your ass at darts) and a good eye for detail, which complements his photography and role as the group's artillerist. Prompto also seems to be pretty handy with machinery, being able to pilot and use mechanised melee weapons, and is inclined to a bit of tinkering once in a while.
• Abilities:

With all the running he did as a kid, Prompto is decently fit and has great stamina. His link to the Crystal allows Prompto to summon a maximum of two weapons from the ether, although they cannot both be materialised at once.
• Physical weaknesses:

His slight build makes him less durable than his companions who have been training to defend the future King all their lives. Prompto also has limited combat prowess due to him only going through basic self-defence training, and is graceless in fights because of it.

INVENTORY:

Prompto wears a black studded leather vest with patches, red tartan trim and a clip-on flashlight, a black tank top with silver print, a small black bandana, fingerless black gloves, faded leopard-print trousers, a couple of wristbands and black boots with white felt trim. He's carrying a digital camera on its strap as well as a smartphone, and both electronic devices have their respective chargers. Prompto also has a revolver, his primary weapon, which is not directly on his person.
