1. There are two ways to go about starting a business ICly (and we'll leave it up to players to decide what route their character takes, signing up for one OOCly is the same). The first is to claim the building and then register their business with the Town Hall. This will ensure that your character can recieve supplies the same way any other NPC run business would. Any questions about where the supplies that aren't being supplied locally from farms and other such places will be met with blank stares and government non-answers that sound like answers. They're a little reluctant to supply businesses that the mayor deems 'unsavory', however... a classy bar would be fine, a crappy dive bar would be frowned upon, and even the classy bar wouldn't get any alcohol or liquor over 40 proof.
The second way is to ICly claim the building and then start coming up with how to get supplies on your own. If you're interested in starting a business that would be considered 'unsavory' (ie, gentleman's club, dive bar, etc), this is the route you'll probably have to take, as the town hall won't supply you. However, this route means you can pick and choose what your character sells, and they'll be able to approach NPCs in game about supplying them with goods and services!
2. The backyards in the purple colored box (block 510, which we will have a labeled map for here in the near future) are all small to average sized, matching the sizes of the 2 bedroom houses that occupy that block. The backyards in the other blocks are a little larger, and could probably hold a small to medium sized greenhouse.
3. Quite good, although French's is not a Home and Garden center, and doesn't really have one. You'll find basic seeds for flowers that will grow in the area, as well as some basic vegetable garden seeds such as carrots, radishes and tomatoes. There are very basic gardening supplies as well, such as watering cans, shovels, small rakes and garden hoses. Simply put, if it's not too fancy or expensive, French's is likely to have it. If you're not sure on something, feel free to contact me (Lins), and let me know what you'd like, and I can yay or nay it!
